The Trolls in Life

I recently wrote a column over at my Nick of Time blog at The Yummy Mummy Club - a rant really - a respectful, playful, rant - about when the other parent...parents...(that's "parents" as in a verb).

The example was my prince - punishing the children (no tv after school) but how that was the time of day when he wasn't home - thus I had to enforce the punishment - and how that time-of-day-punishment threw off my schedule (thus the ranty-like post).

Read it HERE. It was intended to be playful yet a troll got personal. (TROLL: someone who posts an anonymous or non-anonymous negative comment left on a blog or community forum in order to bait the writer). Trolls are never good - just ask the 3 billy goats gruff.

So this troll called me "self-absorbed" because of that post. And as any thin-skinned writer would...I read the comment 5 times in 4 minutes. Was I self-absorbed? (now I was paranoid and thin-skinned). I had many positive and fun comments to that post - but that one troll comment - that's the one I remember.

And I thought to respond. Apologize perhaps. Because, in this wonderful world of typography - perhaps it was read the wrong way - without the humour with which was intended. But I didn't. Because I didn't want to give food to the troll.

Why am I writing about it here on Parent Club? Because, there are trolls in both electronic and real life - where they either want to bait us (for whatever reason) or they digg at us (again for whatever reason).

And I for one, am someone, who is bothered by the trolls in life.
