    Kids Clothes - Ugh

Um...are we taking out the long sleeved shirts and jeans yet? Should I still keep some shorts in the drawer? Layers?!...

The winter clothes have just come up from the basement and Thing 1 & 2 are excited about seeing the new clothes (well, mainly Thing 2). I bought super space bags a few years ago for our kids clothing storage solution. Love the fact that I can see the clothes and that I (as a bit of a compulsive person) note the size and season. Don't like that the vacuum seal doesn't work so well. Thing 1 & 2 can see their next "new" clothes - which are not new at all - we have a benefactor family who kindly hands down all sorts of cotton and denim treasures.

Today, I'm drowning in Gap and Children's Place -- trying to find homes for warmer clothes but not yet sending the t-shirts in to storage just yet.

Man, I never knew the bliss I had when everything was infant sized!

Parent Club Tip: Preventing Head Lice

    • Advise your children NOT to share hats or hair accessories
    • After washing hair use a leave in conditioner with tea tree oil (THIS ONE is available at Loblaw in the natural health section). Tea tree oil is a natural germicide. Also like just don't like it.
    • Use hair products, such as; a light dose of hair spray or gel. Lice only like "clean" hair as they can attach to the shafts. Hair with product is not as appealing to the creatures.
    • For a natural option; fill a spray bottle with water and a few drops of tea tree oil (available at Shoppers Drug Mart in the Natural health section).

Loblaws Offering Canadian Home Grown Produce

Until September 12th, Loblaw, a partner of Canadian farmers and their families for years, offers 150 to 180 Canadian produce items during the peak of harvest season.

It's worth eating Farm Fresh for your health. Eating "outside the box" means you aren't getting preservatives. It means you are eating your foods at the peak of harvest -- so they taste great. You are supporting your local economy. You are supporting local farmers and their families.

You'll also see that I wrote an article on this subject in Canadian Teen Girl (look at the slide show below for a teaser of that feature article).

    Fall Activities

    The registration dates for the City of Toronto Parks & Recreation progammes are as follows;

Toronto & East York District Wed., Sept. 10, 2008
Etobicoke York District Sat., Sept. 13, 2008
Scarborough District Sun., Sept. 14, 2008
North York District Tue., Sept. 16, 2008

If you haven't gotten your FUN guide yet, the pdf is available HERE.

Parks & Rec. courses are a great way to try a new activity within a reasonable budget. Soccer, Dance, Cooking, Swimming, Pre-school and more.

Parents! Try registering on-line this year to bypass the busy phone lines.

My little Thing 2, who has a very hard time with parental separation, has promised to give swimming a try (not the class where the parent goes in -- the class of kids going solo). Crossing fingers and holding breath that it will not be Armageddon.
