Parent Club quoted at ParentCentral.ca

I'm quoted in today's ParentCentral.ca The mother of all baby columns written by my friend Ann Douglas about the challenges of being pregnant over the holidays.

Douglas: Burdens of a jingle belly

"If you’re someone who loves the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and you’re mega-pregnant this year, accepting that you can’t do it all (or that you can’t do it all your usual way) can be tough. Caroline Fernandez, founder of parentclub.ca, is expecting her third child the week before Christmas: “I just can’t physically..."

    Getting Baby Ready

Any day now...any day now...there is going to be a blackberry PIN from me saying "Meet me at the hospital" (don't you love technology?!). Thing 3 shall soon be here.

And no we don't have names picked out (this time round - we are either very laid back or extremely lazy). And the hospital bag is half packed (why be keeners?). Yes, there is a car seat - of course it's not actually in the car - but its on hand and that's the important thing right? right?

I think we lost our naïveté about getting ready for babies sometime during the Thing 2 projectile vomit stage in our lives. You can never be ready. For babies.

Oh that first hospital bag we packed so many years ago - what a sight that was...
  • extra pillows
  • music
  • kleenx
  • big honkin' video camera
  • address book
  • pjs & slippers for me
  • newborn clothes
  • magazines
  • snacks
  • make-up bag (ba-haha!)
  • shampoo, soap, towel

This time round (this LAST time round) we are simplifying. No frosting. No extras. It's Basic Baby 101 here. And it actually is a relief.

The lack of sleep is stressful enough...it is not time to sweat the small stuff.
