    Blurb Review & Giveaway

Years ago, I did a Blurb book (my first foray into manscript writing).  That's it right there -> "a MOM book". (it's still on the Blurb store bookshelves if you want a copy or three).

I liked template choices for book layout, colours and set up.  And it was EASY!

With blurb you can write your own cookbook, write a novel, publish your portfolio, create custom educational books for your kids, and of course, tell the story of your wedding or vacation.

With Blurb, there are three ways to design your book http://www.blurb.com/make/:

    1. PDF to Book gives professional users full creative reign over the bookmaking process, offering blank Adobe® InDesign® templates
    2. Booksmart makes it very easy and lays out a template for you

    3. Bookify lets you unleash your creativity from cover to cover
    THE GIVEWAY!

THE WHAT:  Enter to win a promo code for $50 for Blurb (prices start at just $13.95)

THE WHO: Open to Canadian and U.S. residents

THE HOW: Surf over to http://www.blurb.com/, get inspired and comment below about the book you would make.

THE TIMELINE: contest running 2 weeks

    Mark's Work Warehouse Giveaway!

Last year, I was one of the media peeps invited to experience Mark's Work Warehouse "#Marksover" (Make-over) to get hands-on on how Mark's refreshed brand represents what Mark’s has become to Canadians – the place for innovative and fashionable men's and women's casual apparel and footwear. (Read the Parent Club #Marksover review and see the dress that is honestly the most comfortable piece of clothing I have ever worn!).

Mark's Work Warehouse is now running a Spring reStyle contest, (running now until June 15) where they are asking men and women from across the country to share their need for a fashion refresh or upgrade (worth a check out people because the prizes are re-donk-u-lous!).

    THE GIVEAWAY

    THE WHAT: a $50 Mark's Gift Card

THE WHY: Because Mark's knows parents want style (and comfort and affordability)

THE HOW: Comment to this post about why you need a ReStyle (be honest, funny, rant, have a pity party if you like...)

THE RULES (because life has rules):

  • Gift Card Giveaway Timeline: to mid-May

  • Open only to Canadian residents (excluding Quebec)

  • One comment per day

FOR ADDITIONAL ENTRIES - LEAVING SEPARATE COMMENTS

    Take 5 Challenge - Clover Leaf - Part 2

Switching the Take 5 Challenge was a bit of a gem. The kids LOVE cooking. And I LOVE MORE not making lunch. So basically, we had a "Bring it" type of activity here. The kids had free range to choose whichever 5 ingredients they wanted (and surprisingly they kept it healthy). Here are the Take 5's from the 7 year old...
And here is what was created...
Can I quote you on that? "It's a happy face" Flavour: Must have been good - it was all eaten.

Presentation: Looked like a face to me How fast did it take? under 3 minutes. Judge bio: a tired Mom, nursing a fussy baby, while kids made their own lunch. Here are the Take 5's from the 10 year old...

And here is what was created...

Can I quote you on that? "It's a baby bassinet" Flavour: According to picky eater - it tasted yummy

Presentation: fairly fantabulous I think How fast did it take? under 4 minutes. Judge bio: see above

The winner of this Take 5 Challenge:

✓The kids got entertainment, activity and really enjoyed eating.

✓Mom didn't have to make a meal and actually didn't have to coach anyone to eat. ✰I think we can declare it a good tie!

    A FISHY GIVEAWAY

The Prize: Your own basketful of Clover Leaf goodies

The Timeline: now to Apirl 11

The Entry: Share your own 5 minute ideas (using Clover Leaf as a product) in a comment to this post. [hint: click here to get recipes as well as some great coupons!) The Rules (because life has rules): ✓one comment per day ✓open to Canadians residents (sorry rest of the world)

For An Extra Entry du jour ✓follow @ParentClub on twitter and tweet about this giveaway (and comment back here that you did so) (Disclosure: "Baskets provided by Clover Leaf Seafoods". Winner will be randomly chosen. Products in basket may vary.)

Forgive the wrong way photos above - please just give me brownie points for actually writing this post at all...as I was doing it with my right hand while the left was holding Thing 3. The. Whole. Time. #Multi-taskingMommy)

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED - THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVERLY ENTRIES AND MEAL IDEAS

    5 Minute Challenge - Clover Leaf - Part 1

We were recently approached to participate in the 5 Minute Challenge from Clover Leaf (and disclosure: we do actually use Clover Leaf as our go-to tuna for school lunch so this challenge was right up our alley...or river...since...you know...it's fish.)

And bonus points to Clover Leaf: they are donating 555 cans of tuna to local food banks in tandem with this challenge (woot woot for social good!)

So we received a basketful of Clover Leaf products as well as some recipes and were challenged to take 5 ingredients and make a full recipe in 5 minutes.

Doable for a busy family? We let the kids judge...

    Take 5 Salsa Tuna Roll-Ups

Can I quote you on that? "Can we change the green onions to something else?"

Flavour: uh-uhn. I don't like it. well, seems ok.

    Presentation: looked ok

How fast was it? three and a half minutes

Judge bio: a very picky 10 year old who doesn't like foods to touch.

    Take 5 Montuna Cristo

Can I quote you on that?: "I think this is yummy"

Flavour: I like it. A lot.

Presentation: Looks like French toast with tuna inside.

How fast was it?: 5 minutes.

Judge bio: An 8 year old who is willing to give anything a try.

So a near-miss and a hit. Does that this a challenge make?! I think NOT. So the next day I did a challenge switch-up. Kids YOU take 5 ingredients and make lunch and I'll be the judge...

Tune into the next post for the recipes the kids made (really very cool actually) and deets how one lucky Parent Club reader will be getting their own Take 5 takeaway!

(Disclosure: "Baskets provided by Clover Leaf Seafoods")

First Foods, babycentre.ca and Cheerios Giveaway

When babycenter.ca approached us about this giveaway we were all on board - because honestly Cheerios were Thing 1 and Thing 2's real "first food". And honestly, Cheerios are a staple in our cereal cupboard (not for breakfast - they are sent to school as a snack almost daily).

Being back on the road to first foods with Thing 3 - I appreciate babycenter.ca's articles on -> Feeding your baby on the go: products that help and Which foods to introduce when.

(Side note: I never had the Cheerios Play Book with Thing 1 and Thing 2 but I will be getting it for Thing 3 - have you seen this book? You fill in the images of the book with real cheerios; combining food & reading. I love that as a way to introduce a first food in a fun and interactive way).

By the way the First Foods section at babycenter.ca is brought to you in partnership with Cheerios.

    Cheerios Giveaway (approx. value $50)

The Prize: The Cheerios Prize Pack ($50 value!) includes: Cheerios On-the-go Tot Container, Cheerios playbook, Box of Cheerios, Bowl and utensil set and a $30 Cash Card.

The Timeline: now to February 14

The Entry: Comment (to this post)sharing your feedback about the Cheerios First Foods section

The Rules (because life has rules):- one entry per day

Disclosure - I am participating in the Cheerios First Foods program by Mom Central on behalf of General Mills. I received a gift card as a thank you for my participation. The opinions on this blog are my own.

One of my favorite holiday memories was driving around our town looking at all the decorated houses with my mom when I was a kid. We used to do it every Christmas Eve.
