Yummy Mummy Club Column

Over at my Yummy Mummy Club column I'm starting a bit of a debate about

Should kids sell cookies for fundraisers?
And are we morally obliged to buy them...

Kids are out there hocking cookies, magazines and chocolate bars to raise money for their schools and other organizations. Are kid-selling fundraisers good team building or is it parents paying the price?..

Parent Club Profiles | Maria Lianos-Carbone

Name please.
Maria Lianos-Carbone

Your Website?www.amotherworld.com>

What's your specialty? (work-wise - you're probably pretty special at a lot of things)
I’m a writer, blogger and social media addict. My specialty is writing! I write for several sites at the moment and love every minute of it.

What's your shameless plug? (books, blogs, bling, etc.)
I run www.amotherworld.com, a lifestyle website for moms. I’m Online Editor, Social Media for ParentsCanada magazine’s website www.parentscanada.com also write celebrity news for www.babble.com.

Best thing about your work:
Writing lifestyle articles and news about parenting, motherhood, celebrities, health and other fun topics, makes me happy and fulfilled. The other amazing thing about the kind of work I do is the flexibility it allows me. Having two young children, working on my own time gives me the chance to be both a present mom and have a career that I love.

Parent or not a parent?
I’m a mama to two rambunctious boys who are my life and light, and the occasional reason for cocktails before dinnertime.

Share a typical Tuesday (really we want to hear how you "do it all")
First you must read this post to get an idea:
http://amotherworld.com/main/featured/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-work-at-home-mom-in-numbers/

My day begins at the crack of dawn before the kids are even awake, or at least one of them. I put my coffee on and turn the computer on and check in… to my emails, Twitter, Facebook, you get the point. I usually get some work done (ie. write a couple of posts) before the morning rush begins. After breakfast and school drop-off, it’s back to work. My eldest is in school full-time but my youngest is only in pre-school. The mornings he is in school, I pump out a good portion of the day’s work. But when he’s home, it’s literally 20 minutes of work and then 20 minutes of playtime. Then it’s back to school to pick up DS1 followed by snacks, play and homework. Dinner prep and cooking begins and I can try to squeeze in some more work then. Dinnertime and after dinner is busy until the kids go to bed. I usually finish up my work for the day in front of the T.V. with some sort of cocktail or chocolate fix, and then it’s time for bed.

Do you blog?
I blog on my website, www.amotherworld.com under the Blog section.

Do you tweet?
I tweet. A lot. I have several Twitter accounts to manage it all. I tweet for @amotherworld and @ParentsCanada but my personal account is @MariaLianos.

Link to a post/portfolio/recipe piece you think shows your most supreme skills:
http://amotherworld.com/main/featured/eating-disorders-and-the-media-how-much-does-media-play-a-role/

Wallflower or social butterfly?
Depending on my mood, I can be both; but I usually am a social butterfly, most of the time.

Name 3 people you would like to meet-in-person from Twitter (add why so we can follow them too)...
@MomMagRocks, @sarahjcarter and @smilenwaven. They are amazing, inspiring women with awesome personalities who always have something interesting to say, are supportive and sweet and will quickly become not only a twitter acquaintance but a real friend.
