Parent Club at Blissdom

I am inspired, motivated, engaged and a bit overwhelmed by my experience at Blissdom Canada.

(Pictured L-R: Blissdom Organizer Barbara Jones – @BarbaraJones, Moi - @ParentClub, some gal named Patty and Canadian Blissdom hostess-with-the-mostest Catherine Connors – @herbadmother)

For the dear readers who aren't into social media - think of this conference as a virtual book club meeting in real life. Where you connect names to faces.

For the dear readers in social media - think of this conference as a learning-castle with rooms upons rooms of wizards* knowledge-sharing.

My key take-aways from the conference were:

  • write with honestly, respect, engagement and awesome content
  • tweet like no one is following you
  • don't be a troll (it is far too easy to leave a nasty comment and run away)
  • suck less
  • decide what you want to do and then start making it happen

And all those take-aways? They parlay** into real life, everyday, important, life skills. Parents, don't you think we should all suck a bit less? Or at least stop overthinking how much we suck on a day-to-day basis.

Key sharing points for you dear readers:

You need to know about Karen's (aka @ScatteredMom) Food Revolution Fridays - inspired by Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution - Karen is creating a community of school lunch change...one Friday at a time.

You need to know about Glow in the Woods a blog contributed to by many parents who have lost children. (I wish I, myself, had known about this site when I was Mourning A Baby.)

Though I was missed by Thing 1 & Thing 2, my laptop and my laundry room - I was so grateful to have the opportunity to attend Blissdom Canada (thank you again @fdnstudio for sponsoring me).

*Wizards & Castles -> remind you of Harry Potter at all?
**Parlay ->Pirates of the Carribean deja vous

Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey, the world's leading questionnaire tool.

So what does a blogger survey have to do with anything Parent Club related? Well, many parents blog (or are thinking of blogging). This is good-to-know-stuff.

Many parents have inquiring minds but are too shy to ask (example: your kid comes home with lice and you want to know how to get rid of it but are too embarrased to ask anyone - been there, done that, have the nit-picking-comb!). Some parent bloggers may be interested in the answers to these survey questions - but are too shy to ask. Knowledge sharing is important.

Take a sec and fill out the survey...and Parent Club will post the results for all to read. Because...Parent Club is about sharing information to make the busy lives of Canadian parents...a little bit easier...and we all deserve easier.

Parent Club Review: Baby Love by WonderBra

THE WHAT: Baby Love by WonderBra

THE HOW: "The WonderBra Baby Love maternity and nursing bras collection features two exclusive new styles made of ultra-soft fabric and lace with integrated spandex micro-fibers for the ultimate in comfort, functionality, and fashion, much to the delight of stylish young mothers and mothers-to-be."

THE REVIEW: Truly comfortable! This easy to wash - easy to wear nursing bra is a combination of style and practicality. Not everyone needs a nursing bra - but when one does it is essential to find a good fitting, fashionable and comfortable bra that has the ease of a one-snap for nursing ease...this undergarment has all that.

THE AVAILABILITY: The Baby Love collection will be available in Sears, The Bay and specialty boutiques as of August 2010 at a suggested retail price of $39.00.
